Chelsea have approached Julian Nagelsmann to replace Luis Enrique as manager, Inside The Far Post can exclusively reveal.
Concerns are mounting in the Stamford Bridge hierarchy that Enrique, who is expected to be unveiled as the club’s new manager this week, lacks what it takes to remain unbeaten until the rest of the season and win the treble.
A source close to Roman Abramovich’s postman’s badminton partner says: “The clock is ticking for Luis Enrique. How can it not be when you look at our precarious league position.
“It’s just not acceptable for a club of Chelsea’s stature to get thumped by Watford, which is why they want Conte out.
“And ok, they’re not playing Watford again this season, but they have to go to Swansea. Man City and Man Utd away could be embarrassing too, and if we can’t win all three of those, I think Enrique’s time will be up.”
Hoffenheim manager Nagelsmann is known as being one of Europe’s top young coaching talents.
His young age, 30, is known to particular appeal to the Chelsea boardroom as once they have his phone number they can keep on hiring, replacing and rehiring him for decades to come.
