Sunderland is looking forward to a new era of Chinese investment after the Golden Duck confirmed it has opened a second takeaway in the city.
Rumours of a major cash investment from the Far East have been circulating for a while. The confirmation of the new takeaway on Saturday afternoon led 20,000 people to walk out of the Stadium Of Light looking for solace in spring rolls as Sunderland were 0-3 down to Reading with 20 minutes to go.
The head chef of the Golden Duck said: “We know people have been hoping and praying for a boost around here for some time, and our new takeaway can help Sunderland to great things again.
“We hope to convince Darren Gibson to switch to a diet of sweet and sour chicken or egg-fried rice, as we believe it will be much better for him than a few pints.
“We are launching a new Number 21 Special too, to mark Sunderland’s incredible 21-match winless home run.”
One of the first customers at the new Golden Duck was Sunderland chairman Ellis Short, who was seen chatting to diners and trying to swap ownership of the football club for a box of chicken satay skewers.
